May 18, 2012 – Annual Benefit

Our 2012 Annual Benefit Honoring Senator Steve Saland occurred Friday, May 18 from 5-8pm and was graciously hosted by club member Rob Rolison at the historic New Hamburg Yacht Club.  We were thrilled to honor Senator Steve Saland, long-time supporter and nearby neighbor of the Kimlin Cider Mill.  We were also thrilled to have Jay Dilorenzo, President of the Preservation League of New York State, join us to present the Senator’s tribute.  For the special evening we were pleased to welcome the Deane Machine Trio (a group of talented swing jazz musicians), one of our local caterers, select silent auction items generously contributed by our local businesses and artists, and all of the wonderful company to honor our Senator and kick off the summer season.

Thursdays June-October 2012 – Arlington Farmer’s Market

Every Thursday from June through October, we had a tent and table at the Arlington Farmer’s Market (3-7pm) on the lawn across from Vassar College, on Raymond Avenue.  There we soldmerchandise, accepted donations, signed up volunteers, and in general spread the word about our cause.

September 9, 2012 – Book Signing

We invited Cynthia Falk, author of “Barns of New York: Rural Architecture of the Empire State,” a book which features the Kimlin Cider Mill, for a presentation, discussion, and book signing at the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center, 317 Main Street, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. The event was free and open to the public and light refreshments were provided. The purchase of books benefited the restoration of the Kimlin Cider Mill.
