Pergola

A Boy Scout’s Eagle Scout project dealt with a dilapidated shed on the north end of the Mill.  The shed was used to store apples prior to processing into cider.  By 2012 the shed was in severe disrepair and so we removed all but the road-side wall and the Boy Scout replaced it with a pergola in the footprint of the old shed.

April 20, 2013 – HVVA Visit

On April 20, 2013, the Society for the Preservation of Hudson Valley Vernacular Architecture (HVVA) visited the Kimlin Cider Mill and Kimlin Farm House on a tour of the Town of Poughkeepsie.  The new owner of the Kimlin Farm House across from the Mill served tea and cookies for the guests as they observed his progress on restoring the house, which he is currently deconstructing. The HVVA members were intrigued by the Kimlin Cider
Mill as well as the house. The older renovations to the house resemble the similar renovations made to the
Mill: materials were salvaged and reused as much as possible.  We were glad to show the HVVA the Mill and hear their interpretations of its construction.
