Please join us for a Prohibition-Era Lawn Party at the Kimlin Cider Mill this Friday, August 11 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The Dutchess County Historian will give a presentation on Prohibition in Poughkeepsie. There will be light food courtesy of Chocolate Mousse Catering, summer cocktails, tours of the 100-year-old cider press, music, raffles, and of course lawn games. Event is rain or shine. Cost is $20. Proceeds support historic events in Dutchess County and the restoration of our cider mill.
You can RSVP on the Meetup page, but are not required to RSVP in order to attend (https://www.meetup.com/DutchessTavernTrail/).
This year marks the 5th year of our annual cider tasting event which will take place Saturday, October 14. The event will showcase numerous local ciders to sample – including our own small-batch Kimlin Cider – with a special tasting glass, along with a cookout, behind-the-scene Mill tours, raffles, entertainment, live music by the Roundabout Ramblers, and building a community clay jug with Art Centro. Proceeds benefit the stabilization and restoration of the Kimlin Cider Mill.
We invite you to join us as a sponsor of this event which is our major fundraiser. Event sponsorship is a wonderful way to advertise your business and support the preservation of the Mill. We offer extensive promotion of sponsors, fully described here and below. The roadside banner on Cedar Avenue advertises the event to nearly 2,500 cars per day; invitations are mailed to 750 supporters; emails go to 450 subscribers; the cider card is handed to our hundreds of guests; and the event and sponsors are shared through our website and Facebook page with 500 followers.
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer organization, Cider Mill Friends fulfills its mission to restore this beloved local landmark through community support and donations. You are proudly preserving the Mill today and, for our most important asset, for our future generations. We actively participate in multiple educational and community endeavors. Over the years, Cider Mill Friends has provided a special place for community service opportunities to many students from our surrounding schools and home schoolers. With sponsor and supporter contributions, in the last year we re-coated the entire roof, rebuilt all the café tables, repaired the press room floor, partnered with Dutchess County to ameliorate the road runoff, and planted a demonstration orchard.
We look forward to you joining us as a Cider Tasting sponsor!
